Who is Eligible for a Voter ID?

The person should be a resident of India.

How to Apply for a Voter ID:
Online Application:
You can apply for a Voter ID online through the National Voter’s Service Portal (NVSP) (https://www.nvsp.in) or the official website of your respective State Election Commission.
Fill out the application form (Form 6 for new registration) and upload necessary documents (e.g., proof of identity, proof of age, proof of address).
Offline Application:
Alternatively, you can apply offline by visiting your local Election Commission office or the nearest Booth Level Officer (BLO).
Complete the application form and submit the required documents.
Documents Required for Voter ID Application:
Proof of Age: Birth certificate, passport, school leaving certificate, etc.
Proof of Address: Utility bills, passport, bank statements, ration card, etc.
Photograph: Passport-sized photograph.
Proof of Citizenship: In case of foreign nationals applying, citizenship proof is required.
Voter ID Application Process:
After submitting the application and documents, the Election Commission will verify the details.
If everything is in order, a Voter ID card will be issued. It may take a few weeks for the card to be delivered to your address.
Tracking Voter ID Application:
After applying, you can track the status of your Voter ID application through the NVSP portal or your state election website.
Voter ID for NRIs (Non-Resident Indians):
NRIs can also apply for a Voter ID card if they have an address in India, though they need to meet certain conditions regarding residency.
Voter ID for New Voters:
New voters, i.e., those who turn 18, can apply for a Voter ID to ensure their name is included in the electoral roll.
